Claude Code 2.1.318 — sign-in expiry warnings and repo-free cloud sessions
In short
Claude Code 2.1.318 shows when a stored claude.ai sign-in ends, warns claude -p users 10 days ahead, lets cloud sessions start with no repository and lets a mod run a side job at its own effort level.

Claude Code 2.1.318 tells headless jobs when their login runs out and fixes config saves on network homes.
What is it?
Sign-in expiry is now visible in Claude Code 2.1.318: `claude auth status` reports `loginExpiresAt`, `claude -p` JSON results carry `credential_expires_at`, and text output prints a stderr warning starting 10 days before a stored claude.ai sign-in ends. Cloud sessions on Anthropic-hosted environments can also start without picking a repository.
How does it work?
A mod's `$.model.fork` gains an `effort` option, so a quick side job can run at `low` whatever the session uses, and the Claude apps gateway adds `assume_role` on `mantle` upstreams for a role in another AWS account. Many fixes target shared network home directories, where `~/.claude.json`, settings and the stored login were sometimes emptied or replaced on save.
Why does it matter?
CI jobs and scripts built on `claude -p` can now catch an expiring login before it breaks a run. Teams on network home directories should see fewer lost MCP servers and trusted folders, and Claude Code no longer installs or updates the IDE extension when started in an IDE terminal.
Who is it for?
developers running Claude Code headless, in the cloud or behind a gateway
