Personal Finance is a new hub in the Claude sidebar, launched in beta on 5 November 2026 for Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers in the US. Users connect bank and credit card accounts, then ask questions like "Can I afford a trip this spring?" and get answers built from their real transactions.

## How it works

Accounts are linked through Plaid: the user signs in to the bank on Plaid's side and approves read-only access, so Claude never sees the bank password. For each chosen account, Claude can read the bank name, account name and type, the last four digits, balances, credit limits and up to two years of transactions. From that data it sorts spending by category, compares months, projects upcoming payments and builds charts, bill calendars and dashboards.

## Why it matters

Anthropic's feature puts Claude level with ChatGPT, which got a similar Plaid-based finance experience in May 2026; TechCrunch describes Claude as playing catch-up. For users, the practical value is finding duplicate charges, unexpected fees and bills that keep rising, without exporting statements by hand. Anthropic says chats in the hub are not used to train its models and that there are no ads or sponsored recommendations.
