Claude Platform on Google Cloud — Anthropic-run Claude API goes GA
Claude Models on Google Cloud (Anthropic managed) is now generally available: Anthropic runs the full Claude API on Google Cloud, with same-day features like Managed Agents, billed on the Google Cloud invoice.

What is it?
Claude Models on Google Cloud (Anthropic managed) is a second way to run Claude on Google Cloud, generally available since October 22, 2026. Anthropic operates the Claude API itself on Google Cloud infrastructure, while sign-in and billing go through the customer's Google Cloud account. The older Google-managed option in Model Garden stays available.
How does it work?
Access goes through Google Cloud IAM with Cloud Audit Logging, and usage lands on one Google Cloud invoice that can draw down an existing Google Cloud commitment. Because Anthropic runs the service, Claude Platform features arrive the same day as on Anthropic's own API: Managed Agents (beta), code execution, computer use, skills, the Files API, web search and fetch, the MCP connector, prompt caching, batch processing and the Claude Console. Fast Mode on Claude Opus 5.5 is also available.
Why does it matter?
Until now, teams that buy cloud services through Google had to wait for new Claude features to be integrated into Google's own stack. The Anthropic-managed route removes that wait, at the cost of Anthropic acting as data processor. Google's post says teams that need VPC Service Controls, CMEK or EU/APAC data residency should keep the Google-managed option.

Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between Anthropic-managed and Google-managed Claude on Google Cloud?
- On Google Cloud, the Anthropic-managed Claude option is run by Anthropic, which acts as data processor and ships new Claude Platform tools and betas on day one. The Google-managed option is run by Google, which acts as data processor and adds VPC Service Controls, CMEK, BigQuery and Model Armor integrations, but gets new tools only once they are integrated. Both offer the same models and pricing.
- Does Claude usage on Google Cloud count toward my Google Cloud commitment?
- Yes. Anthropic says Claude Models on Google Cloud (Anthropic managed) is billed on a single Google Cloud invoice and draws down an existing Google Cloud commitment. Customers with existing discounts should contact their Anthropic or Google Cloud account executive before starting, because Anthropic says discounts cannot be applied retroactively to past usage.
- Which regions does the Anthropic-managed Claude option on Google Cloud support?
- Anthropic says Claude Models on Google Cloud (Anthropic managed) is currently available with US and Global endpoints. Google's announcement notes that the Google-managed option provides data residency in the US, EU and APAC, so teams with regional or sovereignty requirements are pointed to that option instead.
- How much does Fast Mode cost on the Anthropic-managed Claude option?
- Anthropic lists Fast Mode on Claude Opus 5.5 at $8 per million input tokens and $40 per million output tokens on Claude Models on Google Cloud (Anthropic managed). Anthropic says Fast Mode is generally available there and generates output tokens up to 2.5x faster. Google says standard model pricing is the same across both Google Cloud options.
