Claude Tag — Anthropic's @Claude Slack agent for shared teamwork

Claude Tag is a Slack agent from Anthropic that anyone in a channel summons by tagging @Claude. The shared bot breaks a request into stages, runs the work with tools an admin scoped per channel, and posts results back to the thread.

What is it?

Claude Tag is a Slack bot Anthropic launched on June 23, 2026 with the @Claude identity. Anyone in a channel can mention @Claude with a request, and the bot stays on as a shared assistant for the whole team. The first version targets Claude Enterprise and Claude Team customers.

How does it work?

Tagging @Claude sends the request to Claude, which breaks the work into stages and runs them using only the tools the admin scoped to that channel. The agent holds context per channel, so several teammates can hand off the same task or pick up where someone left off. Admins set token-spend caps for the organization and for individual channels, and can read a log of everything the bot did.

Why does it matter?

Claude Tag puts an agent inside the room where teams already work, instead of a separate chat tab. A shared identity makes the work visible to the channel and easy to continue together, while per-channel scoping caps how much data and how many tokens any single conversation can burn. For Slack-heavy orgs already on Claude Enterprise, this is the path to letting Claude actually do work in front of the team.

Who is it for?

Enterprise and Team Slack workspaces already using Claude.

Frequently asked questions

How do you use Claude Tag in Slack?
Anyone in a Slack channel mentions @Claude with a natural-language request, and Claude Tag turns it into a multi-step task. Claude Tag splits the work into stages, calls the tools the admin scoped to that channel, and posts the final answer back into the same thread so teammates can follow along or hand off.
Which Claude plans include Claude Tag?
Claude Tag is in beta for Claude Enterprise and Claude Team customers as of June 23, 2026. Anthropic is offering introductory launch credits to eligible organizations during the rollout. Anthropic has not announced when access will expand beyond those two tiers.
Can admins limit what Claude Tag can do in a workspace?
Yes. Claude Tag admins choose which tools and data the agent can reach in each channel, set token-spend limits for the organization and individual channels, and read a complete log of @Claude actions. Memories and context stay scoped to the channels the admin defines.
Is Claude Tag a replacement for Slackbot?
Claude Tag is a separate Anthropic product, not a piece of Slackbot. The @Claude identity is shared across a channel rather than tied to one user, so several teammates can pick up the same task. Slackbot stays the Slack-native helper, while Claude Tag is the agent doing the actual work.
