What is it?

Dreambeans is a Google Labs experiment on Android and iOS that, with the user's permission, connects to Gmail, Calendar, Photos, YouTube, and Search History. Each morning it delivers a finite collection of 10–14 illustrated stories surfacing places to visit, topics to read, things to try, and upcoming events drawn from those signals.

How does it work?

Two systems do the work. Personal Intelligence ties the signals across connected Google apps into a per-user context, while Nano Banana 2 generates the artwork for each story — including, when a story involves the user or someone they know, painting their likeness directly into the scene using Google Photos as a reference. Users pick which apps to connect, can save stories to a library, and feedback shapes future recommendations. The 'dream' is the overnight batch run; 'beans' is the morning delivery.

Why does it matter?

Dreambeans is the first consumer-facing showcase of Personal Intelligence as a finite, daily-capped product surface — explicitly positioned by Google as an antidote to doomscrolling rather than a feed. It also moves Nano Banana 2 from the lab into a daily-use loop where every user gets fresh illustrations every morning, including likeness-aware ones. The choice to keep Dreambeans's app settings separate from Personal Intelligence settings elsewhere (Gemini Apps, AI Mode) signals Google treating personalization permissions per-product rather than per-account.
