What is it?
Agent 365 is Microsoft's enterprise platform for managing the AI agents proliferating inside organizations — both ones built in-house and ones from partners like Genspark, Zendesk, n8n, and Kasisto. It now ships GA after a public-preview cycle, sold standalone or bundled into the new M365 E7 SKU.
How does it work?
It uses Microsoft Defender and Intune to detect unmanaged ('shadow') agents on Windows devices, identifies local CLI agents like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot CLI, and OpenClaw, and registry-syncs cloud agents from AWS Bedrock and Google Cloud. Policies block or constrain agent behavior, runtime alerts flag malicious activity, and Entra-based network controls inspect agent internet traffic. Windows 365 for Agents provides managed cloud compute environments dedicated to agent workloads.
Why does it matter?
Enterprises are now running dozens of agents across local devices, SaaS apps, and three hyperscaler clouds with no unified inventory. Agent 365 gives security and IT teams a single console to find them, set policy, and stop them when something goes wrong — the same problem MDM solved for laptops a decade ago.
