Wolfram Language 15 — Mathematica adds built-in AI Assistant and Agent Tools

Wolfram Language 15 ships a built-in AI Assistant inside every notebook and a new Wolfram Agent Tools framework that lets Claude Code and other agent environments call Mathematica functions and read or write notebooks.

Wolfram Language Version 15 launch tile

Wolfram Language 15 ships an in-notebook AI Assistant plus an Agent Tools framework that exposes Mathematica to Claude Code and other coding agents.

What is it?

Wolfram Language 15 is the new release of Stephen Wolfram's symbolic computing system and Mathematica notebook environment. The headline change is AI: every notebook now ships with an AI Assistant available at the Basic level and a 'Chatbar' that puts a chat cell at the bottom of new notebooks by default.

How does it work?

The AI Assistant has Basic, Pro, and Research tiers — Basic answers Wolfram Language questions out of the box, Pro handles larger projects, and Research adds the latest frontier models. The new Wolfram Agent Tools framework registers Mathematica with external coding agents like Claude Code, so the agent can evaluate Wolfram Language code, read and write notebooks, and call Wolfram functions automatically when it needs them.

Why does it matter?

Wolfram Language 15 turns Mathematica into a callable tool for AI coding agents and gives existing Mathematica users an in-product AI helper. Researchers and engineers running symbolic math, plots, or data analysis can now drive those workflows from inside Claude Code or directly from a chat cell in the notebook.

Who is it for?

Mathematica users, researchers, and Claude Code users who want symbolic math and data analysis tools
