xAI Ships Grok Skills — Teach Grok a Workflow Once and It Remembers Across Every Conversation on Web, iOS, and Android
Skills give Grok 4.3 persistent custom expertise across chats. Built-in skills cover documents, slides, sheets, and PDFs; users can write their own and share them, with the feature live on web, iOS, and Android.

Grok learns workflows on demand: teach a task once, and Grok keeps the recipe across every future chat.
What is it?
Skills is xAI's answer to Anthropic's Claude Skills and Notion Skills — a persistent, reusable layer that sits above Grok 4.3 and remembers user-defined workflows, formatting rules, and tool sequences across separate conversations on grok.com, iOS, and Android.
How does it work?
Each Grok account ships with built-in skills for documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and PDFs that users can override. A skill creator lets people write their own skills via natural-language instructions and share them with others. Grok 4.3 looks up matching skills at the start of a chat and applies the stored behaviour automatically.
Why does it matter?
Persistent skills make Grok a configurable workspace instead of a one-shot chatbot, closing a major feature gap with Claude Skills, Anthropic Cowork, and Notion 3.5's external-agent API. It also lays groundwork for Grok Build and the upcoming Grok agent ecosystem.
Who is it for?
Grok power users, automation builders
