## In short

AionUi is an open-source desktop application for working alongside AI agents rather than chatting with a model. It sits in the Coding-Agent Harnesses & Runtimes category of the AI Coding tools and is open-source, written in TypeScript and licensed Apache-2.0. To get started: check the system requirements.

## Overview

AionUi is an open-source desktop application for working alongside AI agents rather than chatting with a model. It ships a complete agent engine of its own — file read and write, web search, image generation and MCP tools — so it does something useful the moment it is installed, with no CLI agent to set up first: paste an API key and start. Around that it adds 21 built-in assistants for recurring jobs such as slide decks, documents, spreadsheets, pitch decks, dashboards, academic papers and financial models.

The second half of the app is a unified interface for external coding agents. Dozens of CLI agents — Claude Code, Codex, Qwen Code, Hermes Agent, Cursor Agent, OpenCode, OpenClaw among them — run inside AionUi, so several agents can work in parallel behind one window instead of one terminal tab each. Actions stay visible and approval stays with you.

Two features push it past a local GUI. Scheduled automation runs agent tasks on cron, unattended; and remote access exposes the same workspace through a WebUI and through Telegram, Lark, DingTalk and WeChat, so a long-running job can be checked from a phone. Document output is handled by the project's own OfficeCLI, which produces editable `.pptx`, `.docx` and `.xlsx` files. AionUi is Apache-2.0 licensed and runs on macOS, Windows and Linux.

## What it does

- Built-in agent engine — file access, web search, image generation, MCP tools — with no CLI agent required
- Runs external CLI agents including Claude Code, Codex, Qwen Code, Hermes Agent, Cursor Agent and OpenCode in one interface
- 21 built-in assistants for slides, documents, spreadsheets, pitch decks, dashboards, papers and financial models
- Scheduled cron automation for unattended, long-running agent work
- Remote access over a WebUI and through Telegram, Lark, DingTalk and WeChat
- Editable Office output — `.pptx`, `.docx`, `.xlsx` — via the project's OfficeCLI

## Getting started

AionUi is a desktop install, not a package: grab a build for your platform and add a key. Requirements and commands below come from the project README.

1. Check the system requirements

   macOS 10.15 or higher, Windows 10 or higher, or Ubuntu 18.04+ / Debian 10+ / Fedora 32+; 4 GB of memory and 500 MB of storage are recommended.

2. Install it

   Download the installer for your platform from the Releases page, or use Homebrew on macOS.

```bash
brew install aionui
```

3. Add a key and start

   The README's three steps: install AionUi, enter any API key, start coworking — the built-in agent is ready with no further configuration.

1. Install AionUi
2. Enter any API key to get started
3. Start Coworking — the built-in AI agent is ready to go
```
4. Bring your own CLI agents
   Point AionUi at coding agents you already run — Claude Code, Codex, Qwen Code, Hermes Agent, Cursor Agent and others — to drive them from the same window.
## When to use it
- Reach for it when you run several coding agents and want one window instead of one terminal tab each
- Reach for it when an agent task should run on a schedule while you are away from the machine
- Reach for it when you need to check or steer a long-running agent from your phone
- Reach for it when the deliverable is an editable slide deck, document or spreadsheet rather than text in a chat
