Overview
Gemini 4 Carbon is the Gemini 4 model Google announced on 28 October 2026, two weeks after Gemini 4 Argon reached general availability. The announcement, by Koray Kavukcuoglu, SVP of Google DeepMind and Google's Chief AI Architect, calls it Google's strongest model with state-of-the-art cybersecurity and long-horizon capabilities, built for sustained agentic coding such as root-causing and patching bugs across large codebases.
Google's headline numbers are about security. Carbon scores 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro for finding vulnerabilities, 54.8% on ExploitGym for exploitation and 71.0% on CWE-bench for patching, and Google says these three evaluations ran without guardrails. It ranks #1 on version 5.0 of the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index with a score of 59, and #4 on WebDev Arena at 1769 Elo, up 89 points. Google also reports more than 2x the secure-code success rate of Argon on internal tests.
Rollout is staged. Carbon goes first to a subset of cyber defenders, then to more trusted partners through the Fairwind Program; Google says it will bring the model to developers, businesses and consumers after gathering feedback and iterating on guardrails, and that it takes part in the U.S. government's voluntary pre-release model testing. Google lists an introductory price of $2 per 1M input tokens and $10 per 1M output tokens.

Strengths
- 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro vulnerability finding, which Google describes as state of the art
- 54.8% on ExploitGym exploitation and 71.0% on CWE-bench patching
- #1 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v5.0 with a score of 59
- #4 on WebDev Arena at 1769 Elo, 89 points higher than before
- 0.0% attack success on the Gray Swan indirect prompt-injection benchmark, against 0.7% for Gemini 4 Argon
Best for
- Reach for it for defensive security work, such as finding, triaging and patching vulnerabilities, if your organisation is admitted to Google's rollout
- Reach for it for long-horizon agentic coding, such as root-causing bugs across a large codebase
- Not for general developers at launch: Google gives no public API access yet; Gemini 4 Argon is the Gemini 4 model on the Gemini API
