What is it?
Pion is a cloud platform where agents run continuously and handle everything in a business, and Andon Labs opened it as a research preview on 14 September 2026. Andon Labs calls the setup batteries included: the agents get a secure terminal, email, phone, banking and a browser. Access is gated by a waitlist and granted gradually.
How does it work?
Two layers of agents split the work on Pion. A managing agent called Andonos oversees operations, and persistent business agents run underneath it and do the day-to-day work. Andon Labs says the design comes from two years of running real companies this way, starting with a vending machine at Anthropic and continuing with Andon Market, Andon Café and the Andon FM radio stations.
Why does it matter?
Andon Labs argues that agent business skill is climbing quickly: on its Vending-Bench 2 benchmark, performance improves by roughly $822 more per month with each model generation. Pion lets people outside the lab point that capability at a company they actually own. Andon Labs is also plain about the limits — Andon Market and Andon Café launched in April 2026 and are not profitable today, so this is an experiment rather than a finished product.
