What is it?
Claude Corps is a U.S. fellowship that places people with under two years of full-time work experience into nonprofit hosts for 12 months at $85,000 plus benefits. Anthropic is funding the program with an initial $150 million commitment and targets 1,000 fellows across three cohorts of 100, then 450, then 450 starting in October 2026, January 2027, and August 2027.
How does it work?
Anthropic funds and sets the strategy. CodePath serves as employer of record and runs fellow training before placement. Social Finance handles measurement, evaluation, and scaling. Confirmed host nonprofits include Code for America, the International Rescue Committee, Goodwill Industries, StriveTogether, Team Red White and Blue, Montgomery County Food Bank, and REEF. Fellows must be U.S.-authorized, over 18, willing to relocate, and need no specific educational background. Anthropic says at least 400 nonprofits will host fellows within the first 12 months.
Why does it matter?
It is the largest direct AI-workforce program any frontier lab has run to date and routes Anthropic dollars into civic-sector AI adoption rather than only enterprise sales. The first cohort closes applications July 17, 2026, so the pipeline opens for early-career applicants this summer.
