Verified by Spotify — Green-Check Badge Excludes AI-Persona Artists From Verification
Spotify is rolling out a green-check Verified badge to artist profiles. AI-persona profiles are explicitly ineligible at launch, while 99% of actively searched human artists qualify.

Spotify launches a Verified badge that signals an artist is a real human reviewed by the platform, with AI-persona profiles excluded at launch.

What is it?
A new badge — "Verified by Spotify" with a light-green checkmark — that appears on artist profiles and in search results. It signals that Spotify has reviewed the profile and judged it to meet criteria for authenticity and trust. Profiles that primarily represent AI-generated or AI-persona artists are not eligible.
How does it work?
Spotify combines automated signals with human review. Eligibility looks for an identifiable artist presence both on and off platform — concert dates, merch, linked social accounts — plus consistent listener engagement that isn't a one-time spike. The system also pairs with the existing Artist Profile Protection and SongDNA features Spotify shipped earlier.
Why does it matter?
AI-generated music is flooding streaming platforms. The badge gives listeners and rights holders a labeled signal of human authorship, and it raises the bar for AI-persona acts that want the same discovery surface as established artists. It is one of the first public, platform-wide AI-vs-human verification systems on a service of Spotify's scale.
Who is it for?
music listeners, working artists, labels, AI-music tooling vendors
