What is it?
Hunyuan Hy4 adds vision and computer use to Tencent's flagship model, which shipped as an open-weight preview in August. Tencent says it can read fine image detail and complex charts and work across both command-line and graphical interfaces. The final model is hosted now; Tencent plans to publish the weights and a full system card later.
How does it work?
Tencent scaled up both pre-training and post-training over the preview. Targeted training covered Blender, CAD and long workflows that span several applications, plus front-end work and game development in Unreal Engine, Unity and Godot, where Tencent reports gains of 19.1% on GameDev and 9.8% on GameLogic over the preview. During training Tencent kept only defensive cybersecurity data and filtered out exploit development and penetration-testing material.
Why does it matter?
The hosted API takes images as well as text, so developers get vision and agent use on a 1M-token context at a low price: OpenRouter currently lists $0.417 input and $1.251 output per million tokens. In a company-run test with 213 finance professionals across 579 tasks, Tencent says Hy4 scored 3.04, ahead of DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 (2.97) and Kimi K3.1 Pro and GLM-5.3 (2.68 each). Tencent also admits a gap to top closed models on research math and long-horizon coding.

- Not yet. The full Hy4 release is hosted only, through Tencent Cloud, OpenRouter and Tencent apps. Tencent says the weights will follow later with a comprehensive system card and vLLM and SGLang support. The earlier Hy4 preview from August 2026 is already open-weight on Hugging Face under Apache 2.0.

Unlike the preview, the full model's weights are not published yet.

- Hy4 Flash is a separate model Tencent plans to release in the near future. Tencent describes it as a variant of Hy4 with much better cost efficiency and faster inference. Tencent has not given a release date, size or price for Hy4 Flash.
