What is ValueCell?

ValueCell is a community-driven multi-agent platform aimed at financial applications. It sits in the Finance & Market Agents category of the Agents & Automation tools and is open-source, written in Python and licensed Apache-2.0. To get started: install the desktop app.

Overview

ValueCell is a community-driven multi-agent platform aimed at financial applications. Rather than a single chat assistant, it runs a set of specialised agents: a DeepResearch agent that retrieves and analyses fundamental documents and produces sourced summaries, a News Retrieval agent that delivers scheduled updates on the instruments you follow, and a Strategy agent that executes trading strategies across multiple assets.

It is designed to be model- and market-agnostic. Providers include OpenAI, Google, DeepSeek, Azure, OpenRouter, SiliconFlow and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint; market data covers the US, Hong Kong, China and crypto markets. Agents built with LangChain or Agno can be brought in over the A2A protocol, so the platform is a host for agents rather than a closed framework.

The security posture is worth understanding before you connect anything. Sensitive information — including exchange API credentials — is stored locally on your own device rather than on a server. Live routing is supported to Binance, Hyperliquid and OKX, which the project marks as fully tested, with Coinbase, Gate.io, MEXC and Blockchain listed as partially tested. The README states that only leveraged contract trading is currently supported, with spot implemented as 1x contracts, and carries an explicit warning that investing involves risk and that the project is for technical exchange.

ValueCell is Apache-2.0 licensed and requires Python 3.12 or newer. Desktop builds for macOS and Windows are published on the repository's releases page; a hosted version covering A-share research is available at valuecell.ai.

What it does

  • DeepResearch agent that retrieves and analyses fundamental documents into interpretable, sourced summaries
  • News Retrieval agent with personalised scheduled delivery for the instruments you track
  • Strategy agent for multi-asset, multi-strategy automated execution
  • Works with OpenRouter, SiliconFlow, Azure, Google, OpenAI, DeepSeek and any OpenAI-compatible provider
  • Market data across US, Hong Kong, China and crypto markets
  • A2A protocol compatibility, so LangChain and Agno agents can join the workspace
  • Exchange connectivity with built-in guardrails; credentials and sensitive data stay on the local device

Getting started

Most users start from a packaged desktop build rather than source. Configure a model provider before first use; only add exchange credentials once you have decided to trade live, and read the risk notes in the README first.

Install the desktop app

Download the macOS or Windows build from the repository's Releases page.

Configure a model provider

On first launch, add an API key for your preferred provider through the web interface. This step is required before the agents will run.

Run research and news agents

With a model configured, the DeepResearch and News Retrieval agents work without any exchange connection — this is the read-only way to use the platform.

Optionally connect an exchange

For live trading, add API credentials for Binance, Hyperliquid or OKX — the three the project marks as fully tested — then combine a model with an exchange to create a strategy and monitor it. Binance requires the international site and a USDT-margined futures balance; Hyperliquid requires USDC margin and a main wallet address plus API wallet private key; OKX needs key, secret and passphrase. Keep these secrets private.

Commands and code are distilled from the project's own documentation — always check the official repo for the latest.

When to use it

  • Run automated fundamental research over filings and documents, with citations you can check
  • Track a watchlist and receive scheduled, agent-written news summaries on it
  • Host agents written in LangChain or Agno alongside ValueCell's own over the A2A protocol
  • Experiment with automated strategy execution against a supported exchange, with credentials held locally
